Dealing with a disaster in your home can be a horrifying experience. Whether it’s water, fire, mold storm damage, you should follow a standard process to have as much of a stress-free experience as possible.

1. Handle the emergency

First and foremost, make sure everybody is safe. Call the Fire Department if there is a fire you cannot manage or turn off the water supply if you have a pipe break. Get out of the house if it is too dangerous to stay in.

2.Call the Restoration Company

It is of utmost important to begin the mitigation process as soon as possible to avoid any further damage. iFlooded Restoration has more than 30 years of experience in the restoration industry and handles any type of water, fire or mold damage. While you await an emergency restoration company to arrive you can do several things to make sure the rest of your home and belongings do not suffer any additional damage. Depending on the type of damage, you can tarp the holes in your roof, remove excessive water, get your saved belongings to a safe place.

As a policyholder you are obligated to prevent any further damage to your home. These measures are considered emergency services and will not affect your claim.

However, do not start the restoration and cleaning process, as the insurance company will need all the details and evidence of the disaster. Cleaning without proper documentation can harm your claim.

5. Gather proof of damage

Take as many pictures and videos showing the source and the damage itself. Do not throw away anything that might have caused the disaster and try to keep the area as it is, to the extent that you can, as detailed above. An adjuster will come to inspect the property and assess the damage, so you need to keep it as unaltered as possible.

We take care of the drying & restoration process and bill the insurance company directly for the repairs and cleanup. When it comes to your possessions, you need to make a very detailed inventory of all the damaged belongings. The list should include:

        –   The make and model

        –   Age and current condition

        –   Replacement cost

        –   Actual value of the item
